When a mobile RPG respects your time (and when it doesn't)

Mobile RPGs live and die by one question: does the grind feel earned or does it feel like a stalling tactic? After a lot of hours in the genre, the tells are pretty consistent.

A good grind gives you meaningful choices. Every level or item nudges your build in a direction you picked. You feel smarter, not just more patient. The best ones let you auto-battle the boring parts and save your attention for real fights.

A bad grind hides progress behind repetition designed purely to slow you down. If clearing the same encounter twelve times only nets you a rounding error of a stat, that is a red flag.

My rule now is to watch the first few hours. If build decisions start feeling real early on, the game usually respects you. If it is already asking me to repeat content with no new twist, I move on before it wastes my week.
